Monarchs Pub

Jazz Bistro is Toronto’s jazz venue and dining destination

Did you know that...

Road Closure Notification - Bay St. (Gerrard St. W. to Walton St.)

Utility Construction Staging
Hydro service needs to be provided for the development at 43 Gerrard Street West on the south west corner of Bay Street and Gerrard Street West. The service connection for the site and the Hydro vault that needs to be accessed are located on Bay Street.

Work is scheduled to begin Jan 16th 2016 and will be completed by Jan 21st, 2016.

Northbound centre lane and northbound curb lane will need to be closed at different times to enable connection of the new hydro service to 43 Gerrard Street West.

The Youth Job Connection (YJC) program offers paid pre-employment training and job placements to youth across Ontario. Our role at Yonge Street Mission is to help local youth find and retain suitable jobs through a combination of pre-employment training, mentorship, and job placements.

Mackenzie House Celebrates Black History Month - Weekends in February

Weekends in February, 12 to 5 p.m.

Toronto has a rich legacy in the literature and the newspapers of the early Black community in Ontario. Visit Mackenzie House on weekends in February, and learn more about some of the Black Victorians of Toronto, featuring those who published newspapers during that era. Visitors can take a piece of this important history home when they print a souvenir copy of Mary Ann Shadd Cary's newspaper, The Provincial Freeman, in the re-created 1850's printshop. Included with regular admission.

Eric McCormack’s The Concert I Never Gave
In support of Rethink Breast Cancer

Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 8 p.m.

Eric McCormack brings a night of music and storytelling to the Winter Garden Theatre in support of Rethink Breast Cancer. McCormack, the Emmy-winning star of Will & Grace and Perception, conceived The Concert I Never Gave as a charity event in memory of his parents, who both died of cancer. Featuring iconic music from the 1970s and 1980s by Elton John, The Who, Billy Joel and Queen, McCormack will be backed by a house band that includes musical director Loren Gold, drummer Tyler Stewart and bassist Murray Foster. All money raised will be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer – a charity that offers support, resources and advocacy to those affected by the disease.

Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs

Two shows on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 3 and 8 p.m.

Four-time Emmy nominee and Tony Award-winning actor and activist Alan Cumming brings Emmy-winning musical director Lance Horne and cellist Eleanor Norton to Toronto to showcase what the New York Times calls an "emotional firestorm," with songs by artists as diverse as Billy Joel, Stephen Sondheim and Miley Cyrus … “delivered passionately and with tremendous theatrical authority."

Public Tours - Every Thursday and Saturday

Guided tours of this National Historic Site and the last operating double-decker theatre in the world, recount the history and restoration of the complex. Visit the original and new lobbies, the elegant Elgin Theatre, the unique and resplendent Winter Garden Theatre and samples from the world’s largest collection of vaudeville scenery. As well, a backstage exhibit housing the Winter Garden’s original Simplex Silent Film Projector and a dressing room containing artifacts from the time period are on view.
