ING Direct Initiative
Do you have old sports equipment that you no longer need? The Toronto Cafés will take them off your hands (as long as they’re clean).
We’re looking for items such as:
- Soccer uniforms
- Shin pads
- Soccer socks/shoes
- Ice skates (men, women, children)
- Any other used soccer/skating equipment you may have!
Are you wondering why we want your old stuff? For the month of November, the Toronto Cafés are supporting Second Kicks and Skate to Great, which are organizations that give children the change to enjoy soccer and skating.
In addition to collecting equipment, we’re also donating 100% of funds generated in the Cafés in November to both organizations.
Second Kicks has donated over 10,000 uniforms since 2004. In 2011, ING DIRECT collected 325 jerseys, 75 pairs of shorts, 50 balls and 30 pairs of soccer shoes. Let’s double this in 2013!
Skate to Great’s mission is to provide every child the opportunity to skate, regardless of their circumstances. Skate to Great's main initiative is to collect new and used hockey and figure skates (along with equipment such as pads, sticks and helmets) for organizations that need them.

THE CHRISTMAS STORY at the Church of the Holy Trinity captures the true spirit of the Holiday season
The Holiday Season fast approaches and that meanssoon it will be time for THE CHRISTMAS STORYat the Church of the Holy Trinity (right beside the Eaton Centre). The cast of Angels, Shepherds, Kings and Singers - even an infant Baby Jesus! - are ready to remind you of the most important message of Christmas. Plays December 6-22, 2013 (Fri-Sat-Sun).
A cast of more than 100 volunteer performers from across the city - many of who return year after year - join with professional choral musicians and organist to tell this ages-old story through mime, narration, and song. Beautiful costumes, dramatic lighting design and the majesty of the Holy Trinity Church (an 166 year old architectural treasure in its own right) bring a special magic to this not-to-be-missed Nativity experience.
The story of the Nativity is told through a series of narrated scenes linked by beautiful organ music and carols from an unseen choir. Close to 100 volunteers, including babies who take turns playing the role of baby Jesus, perform in one of two casts. The Church of the Holy Trinity, a 166-year-old architectural treasure, brings its own charm to the presentation.
