Illuminite, Nov 15th from 5:00pm to 7:30pm at Yonge-Dundas Square
Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area kicks off the holiday season with Illuminite. This is no ordinary holiday tree lighting ceremony. Audience will be treated to a 360 degree theatrical experience in the heart of Downtown Toronto. Dancers will defy gravity, new costumed characters will premier in Canada and the live band will keep you moving. The event culminates with the lighting of the 52,000 LED tree!

KidzFest, Nov 29th from 11am to 5pm at Yonge-Dundas Square
Come to Yonge-Dundas Square for a day of free family-friendly fun. The day’s festivities include stage performances and meet and greets with some of the children’s favourite characters – the Octonauts, Frozen Ice Queen & Princess, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.

Downtown Yonge BIA would like to highlight a new opportunity for member businesses, just in time for the holidays!
AdHoc, a new joint venture for producing pop-ups, is putting together a month-long holiday market called #localTOmrkt at the vacant lot on the corner of Yonge and Gould. BlogTO is one of their partners and looking to promote the BlogTO app. AdHoc is inviting all local and independent businesses in Downtown Yonge to either come and take part in the market that supports independent creators and local businesses of Toronto, or offer some kind of discount or promotion that users would have access to upon download of BlogTO’s app.
AdHoc wants to support the local businesses in the area and this would be an opportunity to promote your business through BlogTO and #localTOmrkt.
AdHoc is also very interested in any kind of partnership or in-kind sponsorship opportunities as this is the first year this market is being put together.

Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre Events
Year-round guided tours of this National Historic Site – the last operating double-decker theatre in the world – last for 1½ hours and recount the history and restoration of the complex. Visit the original and new lobbies, the elegant Elgin Theatre, the unique and resplendent Winter Garden Theatre and samples from the world’s largest collection of vaudeville scenery. As well, a backstage exhibit housing the Winter Garden’s original Simplex Silent Film Projector and a dressing room containing artifacts from the time period are on view.
