William Lyon Mackenzie became the first mayor of the newly incorporated City of Toronto in March 1834. He was only mayor for one year, but like the rest of Mackenzie's life, it was filled with triumph, failure and tragedy. Join us for this free walking tour to explore the life and times of Mackenzie as Mayor of Toronto.

ARCHITECTURE OF A NEIGHBOURHOOD: DOWNTOWN YONGE

Explore the architecture of the neighbourhood that surrounds Toronto’s iconic road, Yonge Street, from a large university campus, to beautiful churches, and numerous parks. Get an in-depth look at the side streets, laneways, and the spaces between to discover a side of the area you haven’t seen before.

Join us in our historic kitchen as we celebrate the blooming of May flowers. Explore the traditions of flower giving and preserving while making sweet treats on our 1860s wood stove. In addition to baking with flowers such as lavender and dandelion, visitors will also get the chance to print a historic recipe on our 1850s Washington Press.
