Why is Downtown Yonge the premier shopping and entertainment destination in the Greater Toronto Area?
• The District offers retailers the highest pedestrian counts in Canada, tracked by state-of-the-art pedestrian and vehicle counting systems.
• Independent research by Ipsos Reid finds that Downtown Yonge is highly likely to be recommended by visitors, especially for events, entertainment, shopping and dining.
• A significant 57% of visitors to the District have the express purpose of shopping and the mean spend is more than $100/person on an average visit.
• The District offers a variety of retail hubs, from the restaurants along Elm Street to streetfront shopping along Yonge Street, to mall destinations like Toronto Eaton Centre and Atrium on Bay. The diversity of locations reflects the diversity of consumer choices.
• Research shows that Downtown Yonge attracts six distinct consumer segments, which means a diversity of markets for retailers in the District.
